Jute and Composite Tradition and Innovation
Franco-German Project
From Thu, Jun 30, 2016 to Mon, Aug 15, 2016 ● at Multiple Venues

This event has been organised duly. This page now hosts the original announcement that is to be consulted for research or educational purposes.

Alliance Française de Dhaka, Goethe-Institut Bangladesh along with Otobi and Gold of Bengal are happy to present a project that aims at promoting the use of jute in an innovative way: creating furniture using composite materials made from jute fibre and resin.

Students of architecture or fine arts, artists, and architects are being invited to submit a concept design proposal of a piece of furniture. The deadline is 15 August 2016. Eight entries will be selected for a one-week training under the guidance of French and German experts in Dhaka in order to work on two prototypes that would be made out of resin and jute fibre. The two final prototypes will be displayed during the opening of Franco-German Embassy in Dhaka.
