Living on the Edge

The solo exhibition “Living on the Edge” by the artist Rezaul Hoque commenced on Friday, October 20th, at 5:30 PM at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka. The event featured Sultana Kamal, a prominent human rights activist, as the chief guest. Additionally, esteemed artists Mohammad Eunus and Biren Shome graced the occasion as special guests. The exhibition showcased approximately 40 artworks, with a majority employing the artist’s unique technique of using heat convection to create burnt paper art. In addition to these distinctive pieces, a diverse array of paintings in various other mediums were also on display.

Rezaul Hoque

Rezaul Hoque, a professional artist graduated from Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Since 1993, through experimentation, he has created a unique technique of painting using heat convection, presented at this exhibition. Based on the principle of heat transfer through convection, he creates his artwork. He aims to communicate through his artwork with strength and hope. Based on his technique and thematic work, awards received by Reza are the 1) Faces of the Peace Art Prize Award in 2022 by the Europe-based Contemporary Art Curator Magazine and 2) Harmony for Humanity: The Global Consciousness Art Prize in 2023 by the Spain-based Contemporary Art Collectors. He has participated in various national and international solo and group art exhibitions, recent ones include: 2022 Collective Art Exhibition titled “Love in Multiple Forms” organized by the New York-based Agora Gallery.
